Professor James Fraser

James Fraser

Associate Professor James Fraser studies Cryptococcus neoformans, a yeast that is one of the leading causes of fungal infections among immuno-compromised patients.

He is researching the mechanisms of microevolution during infection, which can cause relapse in patients.

Relapse is a major problem in countries in sub-Saharan Africa at the heart of the AIDS pandemic where immune reconstitution treatment is usually unavailable.
