AID researchers are drawn from infectious disease experts from across QIMR and UQ who apply leading technologies to identify, understand and prevent infectious disease.

Associate Professor Nick West

Dr Nick West is committed to understanding the mechanisms by which Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes Tuberculosis (TB).

One in three people in the world are infected with this bacterium, resulting in approximately 4000 deaths every day.

His lab uses modern molecular genomic technologies to identify the genetic requirements causing TB, to develop new therapies and control measures.
