Professor Matthew Cooper’s research focuses on the design and development of new antibiotics and anti-virals active against drug-resistant pathogens.

He is interested in hospital-acquired infections, such as the strain of golden staph known as MRSA, resistant to most antibiotic treatments.

His group is involved in developing specific tags to overcome bacterial resistance and deliver these antibiotics to the target.
