Associate Professor Ian Mackay

Associate Professor Mackay's clinical virology research focus aims at discovering and characterising viruses, defining their interactions and determining the clinical outcomes in the respiratory tract of children infected by them.

Associate Professor Mackay's competitively funded research areas include de novo virus discovery, rhinoviruses, non-rhinovirus picornaviruses and virus:virus interactions at the population and immunobiological level.

Associate Professor Mackay is a Group Leader in the Clinical Medical Virology Centre within the School of Chemistry & Molecular Biosciences, The University of Queensland.

He also works in the Queensland Paediatric Infectious Diseases Laboratory, Queensland Children's Medical Research Institute, The University of Queensland.
